Certified Local Government (CLG) Program

Empowering Your Community

The Certified Local Government (CLG) Program, jointly administered by the Kentucky Heritage Council (State Historic Preservation Office) and the National Park Service, fosters collaboration among local, state, and federal entities to help communities achieve their preservation goals. Through the CLG Program, you take the initiative to understand and address historic preservation issues at the local level, integrating seamlessly into your community’s [planning and decision-making processes.

We empower you to ensure that local interests shape the functions of the State Historic Preservation Office, assisting in the establishment or updating of legislation and commissions for effective historic preservation. Additionally, you gain direct access to valuable inventory information, enhancing your ability to identify and define areas for community development and conservation.
